The time I've been at deviantART, there's a recurring pattern in which so many fanart/anime/chibi artists get boosted immensely in popularity, while artists of other genres get ignored. I've experienced the same, what with contests and all (the only time I got a small prize..ish..thing was when I drew a chibi thing). Last year, I'd just sit around and bitch about it, but I've realized it doesn't really matter in the long run.

I'm not on deviantART to be popular. I'm on dA because I enjoy drawing and looking at other people's art and I'd like to improve as much as possible. So it doesn't matter if I have 2 people watching me or 200. Same idea with pageviews.

I used to try to keep up with the crowd, but I'm not a trendwhore anymore. I'll draw as I please.
